Yes — we are always happy to welcome new clients and their pets.

Whether you are new to the area or simply looking for a different veterinary practice, you can register easily online or contact our friendly team and we’ll be happy to help.

New clients are always welcome

We are an independently owned veterinary practice, meaning decisions are made here within the practice based on what is best for our patients and clients.

This allows us to focus on:

  • Honest, transparent advice
  • Continuity of care with the same veterinary team wherever possible
  • Personalised treatment plans for every pet
  • Long-term relationships built on trust and communication

Welland Valley Vets is an independently owned and locally run veterinary practice.

We are not part of a corporate group, which means all clinical and business decisions are made within the practice by our team. Our focus is always what is best for each individual patient and their owner.

Continuity of care is one of our core values at Welland Valley Vets.

Wherever possible, we aim for you and your pet to see the same vet, helping us build trust, understand your pet’s history, and provide consistent, personalised care over time.

When booking appointments, we will always do our best to arrange for you to see your preferred vet. If there is someone in particular you would like to see, please let our team know when you call and we will do everything we can to accommodate this.

If your pet needs urgent care outside of our opening hours, please call our usual practice number and you will be directed to our trusted out-of-hours emergency provider, Vets Now in Peterborough.

We also offer our clients free access to VidiVet, a veterinary advice service that can provide guidance and support when the practice is closed. To use this service, you will need to download the app and register using our practice code in advance. Please call us on 01780 76433 if you don’t yet have access to this service.

If you are unsure whether your pet needs to be seen urgently, VidiVet can often help guide you on the best next steps.

We are primarily an appointment-based practice so that we can give each pet the time and attention they deserve.

If your pet is unwell or you are unsure, please call us first and we will advise you on the best next step.

Yes — we offer microchipping for dogs, cats and small pets. Microchipping is a simple and important way to help reunite lost pets with their owners.

A standard consultation with one of our vets is £49.

We also offer nurse appointments for £20, which are suitable for a range of routine services including:

  • Nail clips
  • Anal gland emptying
  • Weight checks and weight management advice
  • General nurse clinics and advice

If you are unsure whether your pet needs a vet or nurse appointment, our team will be happy to advise when you call.

We are able to manage and investigate many medical and surgical conditions within the practice, including access to several trusted visiting specialists who provide advanced services on-site.

This includes:

Orthopaedic surgery

Advanced ultrasound scanning and heart investigations

Ophthalmology (eye) consultations

Having visiting specialists allows many pets to receive more advanced care in a familiar environment, supported by the team they already know.

However, in some situations, referral to a dedicated referral hospital may still be the best option, particularly for very complex cases, advanced imaging such as MRI or CT, or intensive overnight care.

If referral is recommended, we will always discuss this with you fully and help guide you through the process to ensure your pet receives the best possible care.
