We do a variety of eye referral work and importantly can perform screening of dogs for inherited eye disease under the BVA/KC/ISDS Eye Scheme.

We’re pleased to offer a dedicated ophthalmology referral service, led by Rob Pontefract, a highly experienced veterinary ophthalmologist with a background in diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye conditions.

Whether it’s a routine issue or something more complex, Rob is happy to see cases referred from local practices and works closely with referring vets to ensure the best outcomes for each patient.

Rob can carry out a wide range of advanced procedures and surgeries, including:

Eyelid surgeries – including entropion, ectropion, eyelid reconstruction, and removal of eyelid masses
Third eyelid surgeries – such as “cherry eye” repositioning, scrolled cartilage repair, and tumour removal
Extra eyelash removal – including distichia and ectopic cilia
Corneal procedures – superficial keratectomy (for non-healing ulcers), corneal grafting, sequestrum repair, laceration repair, and foreign body removal
Lens and intraocular surgeries – cataract surgery and lens luxation surgery
Enucleation – removal of the eye when necessary

We aim to make the referral process as smooth as possible and will keep you informed throughout your patient’s care.
